Overview
CookFlic is built to respect your data. Your recipe library is yours: it's stored on your device for offline use and synced securely to your account so it's there on every device you own. We run no ads, we never sell your data, and we use no third-party advertising trackers. We believe your kitchen is your business, and we built CookFlic to keep it that way.
Information We Collect
CookFlic collects only what it needs to work. Creating an account requires an email address, which we use to sign you in and sync your library. The recipes, cookbooks, kitchen items, and lists you create are stored to keep them consistent across your devices. When you import a recipe with AI, the source you provide — a link, photo, PDF, or pasted text — is sent for processing. We collect anonymous diagnostics to improve stability. The app also creates a random install identifier, kept on your device, so we can count how many installs go on to sign in. With it we record whether a sign-in was started, cancelled or failed (an error code, nothing else) and whether the install runs on an automated test device. It contains nothing about you, and once you sign in it is linked to your account. Deleting your account removes that link. When you open the upgrade screen, we record where you opened it from, which plan you tapped, and whether a purchase finished, was cancelled or failed. This is linked to your account and deleted with it. We do not collect your name, location, contacts, or browsing activity.
How We Use Your Information
We use your email address to authenticate your account, and your recipe library to sync across your devices and power features like pantry matching and grocery lists. AI recipe extraction is handled on our servers using trusted AI providers. Anonymous diagnostics help us find and fix issues so CookFlic stays reliable for everyone. We do not use your content for advertising.
Third-Party Services
CookFlic uses third-party AI providers (such as Google and OpenAI) to extract recipes from links, photos, and videos, and Polar as our payment processor for purchases. These providers process only what's needed to deliver the feature, under their own terms. We do not use advertising SDKs, data brokers, or social-media tracking of any kind, and we never sell your data.
Data Storage and Security
Your library is stored on your device for offline access and synced to CookFlic's servers so it stays consistent across your devices, protected with industry-standard security in transit and at rest. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our servers.
Your Rights
You’re in control of your data. You can delete individual recipes or empty your Trash at any time. To close your account and remove all of your data from our servers, open Profile → Delete account in the app; it takes effect immediately. If you can no longer sign in, contact us at [email protected]. We never hold your library hostage: even on the free plan, we never delete your recipes.
Children's Privacy
CookFlic is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can address it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of CookFlic after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
