CookFlic vs Paprika: A Paprika Alternative for TikTok, Instagram and Photo Imports

The short answer

Paprika is one of the best-loved recipe managers, with about 54,000 ratings averaging 4.9 on the US App Store in November 2026. If you only cook from recipe websites, use one device and like paying once, Paprika 3 is hard to beat.

CookFlic is the better fit if your recipes come from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or photos of cookbooks, or if your household mixes iPhone, Mac and Android and you don't want to buy the app again for each one.

What about Paprika 4?

Paprika 4 has been in open beta since September 28, 2026, with no release date. It adds photo scanning, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube import, and family accounts, but only for subscribers: Paprika's own FAQ says new features will need a recurring fee, most likely annual, and that pricing isn't final. Existing Paprika 3 owners keep what they already have without paying again.

So the choice will soon be between Paprika 3 as it is, a new Paprika subscription, or CookFlic, which already has those imports and lets you choose between paying once and a subscription.

Where Paprika is the better choice

Paprika runs on Windows; CookFlic doesn't. Paprika imports from more old recipe programs, works on Apple Watch, and its Paprika 3 desktop and phone apps are mature and fast. If one iPhone is all you need, $4.99 once is cheaper than anything CookFlic sells.

Where CookFlic is the better choice

Imports from video and photos are the big one. Paste a TikTok or Instagram link and CookFlic writes down the recipe, even when the creator only says the amounts out loud. Snap a page of a cookbook or a handwritten card and it becomes a recipe with ingredients and steps.

The second is price across devices. A household with an iPhone, a Mac and an Android phone pays Paprika three times. With CookFlic one Lifetime purchase, $79.99, covers every device you sign in on, and the free plan already syncs 25 recipes everywhere.

Move your Paprika recipes to CookFlic

1. In Paprika, select your recipes and export them as a Paprika recipe file (.paprikarecipes).

2. In CookFlic, tap "Add recipe", choose "Import from Paprika" and pick the file.

3. Your recipes come across with their ingredients and steps. Recipes Paprika saved from a website keep their photo; photos you added yourself in Paprika don't come across yet. Paprika import doesn't use AI and costs nothing.

The free plan holds 25 recipes, so for a bigger library, Lifetime or a subscription removes the limit. You can keep Paprika installed while you try CookFlic.
